http://etoro-erfahrung.blogspot.de/

- Yesterday the euro took the lead against a weaker USD pushing the currency pair to highs of 1.2682 after bouncing off 1 big figure from session lows of1.2583.Tuesday we said: “It looks like there is little resistance ahead of 1.2700 and thus we expect that follow through buying will likely push price action to this level intraday. Beyond 1.27 next resistance seen at 1.2715 both levels are respectively 30th September and 29th September highs. To the downside 1.2575/1.2550 should provide initial support. Our preferred scenario is for another attempt higher before resuming the downside.”
Today the pair has traded in the range 1.2622:1.2683. In the immediate a retest of the highs seen during the Asian session looks likely with a second target of 1.2720 if the bullishness continues. 1.2720 is the 38.20% Fibonacci extension of the up move seen last Monday. To the downside 1.2580:1.2620 should provide support. The release of the minutes of the last Fed Meeting this evening will likely provide some motivation. Take a wider view of the currency’s move it looks like we are in the consolidation phase after the USD’s gains made till last Friday before the longer term bearishness resumes. For today we prefer taking a neutral stance and expect much of the trading to stay between 1.2580:1.2720.

Fed Statement

Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in June indicates that growth in economic activity rebounded in the second quarter. Labor market conditions improved, with the unemployment rate declining further. However,ly suggests that economic activity is expanding at a moderate pace. On balance, labor market conditions improved somewhat further; however, the unemployment rate is little changed and a range of labor market indicators suggests that there remains significant underutilization of labor resources. Household spending appears to be rising moderately and business fixed investment is advancing, while the recovery in the housing sector remains slow. Fiscal policy is restraining economic growth, although the extent of restraint is diminishing. Inflation has moved somewhat closer tobeen running below the Committee's longer-run objective. Longer-term inflation expectations have remained stable.

Consistent with its statutory mandate, the Committee seeks to foster maximum employment and price stability. The Committee expects that, with appropriate policy accommodation, economic activity will expand at a moderate pace, with labor market indicators and inflation moving toward levels the Committee judges consistent with its dual mandate. The Committee sees the risks to the outlook for economic activity and the labor market as nearly balanced and judges that the likelihood of inflation running persistently below 2 percent has diminished somewhat since early this year.
The Committee currently judges that there is sufficient underlying strength in the broader economy to support ongoing improvement in labor market conditions. In light of the cumulative progress toward maximum employment and the improvement in the outlook for labor market conditions since the inception of the current asset purchase program, the Committee decided to make a further measured reduction in the pace of its asset purchases. Beginning in AugustOctober, the Committee will add to its holdings of agency mortgage-backed securities at a pace of $105 billion per month rather than $150 billion per month, and will add to its holdings of longer-term Treasury securities at a pace of $150 billion per month rather than $2015 billion per month. The Committee is maintaining its existing policy of reinvesting principal payments from its holdings of agency debt and agency mortgage-backed securities in agency mortgage-backed securities and of rolling over maturing Treasury securities at auction. The Committee's sizable and still-increasing holdings of longer-term securities should maintain downward pressure on longer-term interest rates, support mortgage markets, and help to make broader financial conditions more accommodative, which in turn should promote a stronger economic recovery and help to ensure that inflation, over time, is at the rate most consistent with the Committee's dual mandate.

The Committee will closely monitor incoming information on economic and financial developments in coming months and will continue its purchases of Treasury and agency mortgage-backed securities, and employ its other policy tools as appropriate, until the outlook for the labor market has improved substantially in a context of price stability. If incoming information broadly supports the Committee's expectation of ongoing improvement in labor market conditions and inflation moving back toward its longer-run objective, the Committee will likely reduce the pace of asset purchases in further measured steps at futureend its current program of asset purchases at its next meetings. However, asset purchases are not on a preset course, and the Committee's decisions about their pace will remain contingent on the Committee's outlook for the labor market and inflation as well as its assessment of the likely efficacy and costs of such purchases.

To support continued progress toward maximum employment and price stability, the Committee today reaffirmed its view that a highly accommodative stance of monetary policy remains appropriate. In determining how long to maintain the current 0 to 1/4 percent target range for the federal funds rate, the Committee will assess progress--both realized and expected--toward its objectives of maximum employment and 2 percent inflation. This assessment will take into account a wide range of information, including measures of labor market conditions, indicators of inflation pressures and inflation expectations, and readings on financial developments. The Committee continues to anticipate, based on its assessment of these factors, that it likely will be appropriate to maintain the current target range for the federal funds rate for a considerable time after the asset purchase program ends, especially if projected inflation continues to run below the Committee's 2 percent longer-run goal, and provided that longer-term inflation expectations remain well anchored.
When the Committee decides to begin to remove policy accommodation, it will take a balanced approach consistent with its longer-run goals of maximum employment and inflation of 2 percent. The Committee currently anticipates that, even after employment and inflation are near mandate-consistent levels, economic conditions may, for some time, warrant keeping the target federal funds rate below levels the Committee views as normal in the longer run.

Voting for the FOMC monetary policy action were: Janet L. Yellen, Chair; William C. Dudley, Vice Chairman; Lael Brainard; Stanley Fischer; Richard W. Fisher; Narayana Kocherlakota; Loretta J. Mester; Jerome H. Powell; and Daniel K. Tarullo. Voting against was Charles I. Plosser whothe action were Richard W. Fisher and Charles I. Plosser. President Fisher believed that the continued strengthening of the real economy, improved outlook for labor utilization and for general price stability, and continued signs of financial market excess, will likely warrant an earlier reduction in monetary accommodation than is suggested by the Committee's stated forward guidance. President Plosser objected to the guidance indicating that it likely will be appropriate to maintain the current target range for the federal funds rate for "a considerable time after the asset purchase program ends," because such language is time dependent and does not reflect the considerable economic progress that has been made toward the Committee's goals

Neue EU-Kommission: Abgeordnete boykottieren Slowenin Bratusek

Was wird Mr. Stevens machen?

Short positions are 0.0% lower than yesterday and 0.4% below levels seen last week. Open interest is 0.6% higher than yesterday and 0.8% above its monthly average. We use our SSI as a contrarian indicator to price action, and the fact that the majority of traders are short gives signal that the USDCNH may continue higher. The trading crowd has grown less net-short from yesterday and last week. The combination of current sentiment and recent changes gives a further mixed trading bias.

Weekly Market Review

Is Draghi about to Pull the Wild Card?
After the Euro hit the $1.27 low, a level not seen since 2013, investors will be watching for Super Mario’s next move. As data in the Eurozone continues to deteriorate, bets are rising that Mario Draghi will finally pull the rabbit of his hat and start a full blown Quantitative Easing program. At the ECB’s October meeting, Draghi has promised that he will shed more light about the extent of liquidly it is about inject.  Investors have high hopes that at this Thursday’s meeting, Draghi will at least hint on the extent that the ECB is willing to go to support the economy with QE in October. If Draghi does signal that the “printing press” will be working at full speed, that is that the ECB will begin printing Euros at a rate of hundreds of billions, pressure on the Euro could mount while indices traded in Euros, such as the DAX , the CAC40 and the STOXX600, could get some relief.

Watch the Buildup
However, while the ECB rate decision will be the wild card for the Euro, the buildup in Euro sentiment will start from the beginning of the week with the release of high profile indicators such as German unemployment and retail sales, Eurozone Inflation and Eurozone GDP. Germany is the largest economy in the region and vastly considered the growth engine of the Eurozone, hence it is critical for Euro sentiment that Germany does well or be, at the very least, OK. This means unemployment must stay at 6.7% and not crawl higher and retail sales must grow (MoM) after a -1.4% contraction in July.  Then comes the Eurozone CPI reading; it is important to remember, the low CPI or inflation reading is what propelled the ECB to embark on an easing policy to begin with, and hence it will be highly watched. If the Eurozone CPI slows further to 0.3% (YoY) that could raise the likelihood of an ECB QE program and could elevate expectations towards Thursday’s decision and speech.

The Non-farm Finale
While most of the week will be dominated by the story of the Euro, and to a lesser extent by the Pound Sterling with UK GDP due, the Non-farms report on Friday might steal the spotlight. With its tendency to jitter markets (in both directions) and its strong impact on Dollar sentiment, the NFP result could dictate how the week will end and, more importantly, the sentiment for the days and weeks after. After rather disappointing housing data and subdued Durable Goods reading, Dollar bulls will seek a healthy rise in Non-farms to prove the US economy is still growing robustly. If figures once again dip below 200K that could turn on a few red alerts for investors and may ignite profit taking in the Dollar and a rebound in Gold and other commodities.

Down to Business
When it comes to the Euro, if data continues to be negative and is followed by a dovish Draghi that could lead to further pressure on the Euro while European indices might at least stabilize. If data is better than expected and Draghi more “vague” that will mainly benefit the Euro until the NFP results are released. When it comes to the Dollar, investors will want their worries over a US slowdown dispelled. Thus if NFP surpasses the 200K mark, the Dollar could maintain its momentum. If not, it will depend on the contracts between the US and the Eurozone. If Draghi is vague while US data disappoints, the Euro might get a relief rally; any other scenario and the EUR/USD might come under pressure whole other pairs trading vs the Dollar will mostly depend on the NFP result.
On the Plate

German Unemployment and Retail Sales (Tuesday) -  If unemployment remains at 6.7% that will be a positive sign, if Retail Sales rise (MoM) after falling in the last reading, that would support the Euro.
UK GDP (Tuesday) – This is the final reading for Q2 GDP. If figures are revised upwards that could benefit Sterling, especially against the Euro, and considering that Scotland will remain within the United Kingdom.
Eurozone CPI (Tuesday) – The most important European data release before the ECB rate decision; if CPI (YoY) slides to 0.3%, that will raise speculation of a dovish Draghi and weaken the Euro.
Eurozone Q2 GDP (Wednesday) – This is the final release of the Eurozone GDP growth figure for Q2. If figures are revised lower from the last reading that could put further pressure on the Euro ahead of Thursday.
ECB Rate Decision (Thursday) – This is the main event for the Euro. If Draghi signals more easing the Euro could face further selling pressure.
Non-farm Payrolls (Friday) – This is the main event for the Dollar. A reading above 200K and the Dollar rally could gain momentum while Gold could be hit.

GOLD

Gold looks like it could trade down to 1180 where if gold dips into 1180 and finds support at the pink and red trendlines, could trap sellers at lows causing a short squeeze in a counter trend rally back up to resistance. But if gold breaks all current possible support on a weekly close with strong momo, the measured move of its current consolidation period is close to the 61.8% fib from 2001 lows to 2011 highs. Notes on chart.

News

Australian Dollar: The Australian dollar continued its struggle against the Greenback on Friday underpinned by the continuing fall in iron ore prices. The Aussie finished the week at a rate of 0.8929, over half a cent weaker, just off the daily lows. The focus this week will continue to be on the US Federal Reserve as Chair Janet Yellen emphasised the time frame to an interest rate increase will depend heavily on the strength of underlying US economy, not simply the labour market. In other happenings Chinese manufacturing on Tuesday will provide an important look as to how China’s economy is tracking as policy makers continue their efforts in trying to spur additional activity, efforts which will closely monitored by nation’s like Australia who are highly invested in their success We expect a range today of 0.8890 – 0.8970 New Zealand Dollar: The New Zealand dollar fell slightly against the Greenback during Friday’s trade after local data failed to impress. Visitor arrivals can be seen as a leading indicator for tourism and have follow on effects to monthly retail sales and job data. The arrival numbers showed a 3 per cent drop and the higher yielding currency began to fall. Over the weekend New Zealand watched as John Key’s National party was re-elected for a 3rd term in an overwhelming victory at the polls. Monday will begin with local consumer sentiment data during Asian trade and US numbers overnight giving direction over the week ahead. The Kiwi opens this morning marginally weaker against the USD at 0.8123. We expect a range today of 0.8115 – 0.8195 Great British Pound: After gaining heavily towards the end of the week the Sterling steadied on Friday afternoon easing slightly against the US dollar. The major surge on Thursday began after it seemed more likely the No vote for a Scottish referendum was going to win. The vote played out as expected and Scotland will remain a part of the UK. Now that the results are in focus can return to the fundamentals where the strength of the UK economy will be scrutinised as the prospect of an interest rate increase in the near future looms. The British Pound similarly softened marginally against the AUD(1.8240) and NZD(2.0030). Investors will now turn to the myriad of economic data this week locally and offshore for guidance. We expect a range today of 1.8190 – 1.8290 Majors: A combination of poor Eurozone data and US dollar momentum saw the Euro lose nearly a cent during the back end of last the week against the Greenback. The Euro fell sharply after German PPI numbers were flat which remains substantially under ECB expectations. In Europe on Monday ECB president Draghi’s speech in relation to monetary controls will be watched closely as the recent decline in interest rates and new stimulus measures will be of the highest importance to the European economic recovery. The US fed continued to talk this week about what needs to be done to help with the economic recovery and investors were assured interest rates will remain on hold for a considerable time. An array of US data will be the focus this coming week as fed chair Yellen has made it perfectly clear economic numbers need to improve.

News

Australian Dollar:

Having initially traded to a late session low of 0.8988 when valued against its US Counterpart minutes from the Reserve Banks most recent meeting did the domestic unit no favours with Policy Makers firmly re-iterating their stance that existing settings remain appropriate whilst also warning of overheating within the housing market drawing particular attention to the high level of speculative demand driven by investors. Rebounding strongly however once European and US markets entered the frame a weaker US dollar this morning has assisted the Aussie in its recovery opening notably stronger at a rate of 0.9093. In an announcement which promises to capture the attention of all market participants US Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen’s testimony is still expected to outline a stable course for higher US interest rates in the future.
We expect a range today of 0.9030 -0.9120

New Zealand Dollar:

The New Zealand dollar has been well supported in overnight trade with demand for the Kiwi bolstered by a diary product auction which saw prices inch higher from their lowest point since July 2012. With a weaker US dollar also playing its part the New Zealand dollar edged up from an earlier low of 0.8144 reaching an eventual high of 0.8229 when valued against its US Counterpart. Opening stronger as this Kiwi buys 82.01 US Cents this morning investors will be keeping a close eye any underlying moves in interest rate expectations ahead of the FOMC”s two-day meeting which commences this evening.
We expect a range today of 0.8160 – 0.8240

Great British Pound:

The Great British Pound loitered close to its lowest level in 10 months versus the dollar before a report which showed consumer prices had risen at an annualized pace of 1.5 percent. Widely in line with expectations the broader concern for the British economy is that Policy makers have communicated that pay pressures remain weak. In what’s set to be choppy end to the week, BOE minutes the FOMC statement as well the Scottish referendum all poise significant risk events for the Great British Pound. Stronger against the US dollar this morning at a rate of 1.6270 the Sterling is weaker against both the Aussie (1.7882) and the Kiwi (1.9828)
We expect a range today of 1.7840 – 1.7920

Majors:

US Stocks rose overnight whilst the US dollar faltered when valued against a handful of major currencies weighed down by a slight shift in bets that the Federal Reserve won’t be in any hurry to raise rates. Whilst on the topic of stimulus, headlines overnight revealed China provided 500 billion yuan worth of liquidity to the country’s five biggest banks stepping up its efforts to spur additional growth. With stimulus set to be front and centre tonight any change in language from Janet Yellen during her testimony this evening could have profound implications for the world’s reserve currency. With currency markets seemingly adopting “a wait and see approach” moves overnight have been relatively muted with the Greenback stronger against the Yen (107.168) whilst the Euro has outpaced the US dollar (1.2957) supported by a positive read of consumer sentiment from Germany

News

Australian Dollar:

The Australian dollar continued its tumble intraday yesterday breaking below the 90 US Cents mark for the first time in six months on Monday afternoon. Reaching a low of 0.8982 when valued against its US Counterpart, yesterday’s sell off came fresh of the back of the Aussies worst week since November last year. With the majority of losses simply a reaction to the weekend’s disappointing economic indicators from China the positive in the short-term is that we have seen a bounce back up above the psychological support level of 0.9000 overnight. Opening marginally weaker this morning at a rate of 0.9026 all eyes will on the Reserve Bank Board’s minutes from their most recent meeting with investors keen to gain further insights into the economic conditions which influenced their monetary policy decision.
We expect a range today of 0.8990 – 0.9060

New Zealand Dollar:

Having enjoyed a relatively quiet intraday session on Monday the New Zealand dollar received a boost overnight after a report showed a surprise decline in US Industrial production. With the soft data print from the world’s largest economy dampening demand for the Greenback the Kiwi reached an overnight high of 0.8179 when valued against its US Counterpart strengthening by more than half a cent from its earlier low of 0.8122. Opening stronger this morning at 0.8173 the domestic outlook today appears relatively flat ahead of a flurry of additional macro development from the United States this evening.
We expect a range today of 0.8140 – 0.8210

Great British Pound:

There hasn’t been a great deal on offer for investors over the past 24 hours with the Great British Pound trading between a low of 1.6219 and a high of 1.6272 on Monday when valued against its US Counterpart. Given all the polling and speculation which has attempted to predict the outcome from this Thursday’s Scottish Referendum, the vote at the very least has proved disruptive. In what’s set to be a choppy 48 hour period the Sterling’s value also promises to be greatly influenced by this evening’s inflation read. Weaker across the board this morning the Sterling is lower against the Greenback (1.6235), the Aussie (1.7980) and the Kiwi (1.9855).
We expect a range today of 1.7950 – 1.8010

Majors:

The US dollar fell from a 14-month high overnight when valued against a basket of major currencies after figures showed industrial production unexpectedly fell in August. With Output declining for the first time in seven months the median forecast had predicted a rise of 0.4 percent not a decline of 0.1. In what’s likely to be bumpy a week for broader currency markets heightened price activity is expected either side of the Federal Open Market Committees two day meeting which commences tomorrow evening.  Given markets will be closely listening for any revamped language surrounding the path to higher rates, already there has been signs of heightened tension as investors fear an early exit from the stimulus game. With the market treading water for the time being there remains a raft of broader economic indicators due for release this evening which promises to provide further volatility. Opening stronger against the Yen at 107.161 the Greenback is weaker against the Euro at 1.2937.

EUR/AUD

Always the higher time frame matters. Looking at purely the Ichimoku setup, EURAUD has reached a very strong support at 1,4350-1,4400.

Daily: Not much change since my last post. Please see the link below. (Note: actually I adjusted the downtrendline a bit, fitting it to candle peaks, not it is matching more the Kumo). In terms of Ichimoku strategy it is a sell level for this pair, with a tight stop to be placed above Kumo and/or the upper horizontal Key level.
Slow Stoch turning down, DMI and MACD a bit worrying. Stop has to be placed above 1,4510.
Lower resistance is 1,4180.

4 Hrs: Still in counter trend mode, but Tenkan, Kijun and Senkou lines started to flat out a bit. If 1,4410 holds it would likely turn down again in one or maybe in two steps.

Strategy: Based on daily small short is recommended here. Adding to short will make sense only if we see a sell signal again on 4 Hrs time frame too.
